COMPUTER APPLICATIONS
Some of the major applications of computers are given below:
1) Banking: In the absence of computers, manual system was adopted everywhere, which was a very complex and difficult task, but now with the advent of computers, everything is more organized and easy to use. Every bank is now using computerized system as it is very fast and user friendly. Personal computer banking helps us check our bank balances, request transfers between accounts, and pay bills electronically. Nowadays online banking is becoming more popular as it provides more convenience and ease to the customers.
2) Traffic light control: In traffic light control, computers are used to regulate the traffic lights. There are some programmed codes that control traffic lights, such as turning on/off the red light and activating other mechanisms.
3) Sports: Computers have revolutionized the sports industry. Computers are used to maintain player records, track scores, and create virtual playing fields. The sports equipment industry also relies heavily on computer-aided design (CAD). Computers are used in conjunction with video cameras in games. These are used to record all player movements. 3D programs are used to help coaches visualize their movements and improve their playing style. Online games allow you to play with others regardless of their location.
4) Schools and Colleges: Computers have many applications in schools and colleges. Each student's details need to be stored, so a computer program comes to help in multimedia, animation, graphics and illustrations can be used to teach students and many boring subjects can be made interesting using multimedia. Students can access the internet for courses for online help and additional information. Computers are used in various ways in the field of education. Computers can be used in school administration such as budgeting, inventory, student records, communications, library circulation, and library public access catalogs.
5) Learning and Instruction: Computer applications can be used for learning and instruction in education. Teaching and learning can be divided into two main areas, teacher-centered instruction and student-centered learning. Teacher-centered instruction examines the computer as an instructional tool and as a tool for instruction and instructional management. With the advancement of technology and internet, online education, e-learning, m-learning are becoming more popular, which provide greater flexibility and convenience to learners.
Student-centered learning views the computer as a tool to access, use, retrieve, manipulate, and transmit information for problem solving. 6) Academic Research: Computers are widely used in all academic research. Academic research involves work related to the collection and processing of information. 7) Entertainment: Computer and Internet are the main means of entertainment. It is one of the new forms of entertainment for modern society. It allows you to play computer games, listen to music, watch videos and movies.
8) Agriculture: Computer use has increased rapidly among agricultural scientists and farmers in recent times. Agriculture sector also benefits from computers due to quick and easy flow of information. Computers allow farmers to collect adequate information related to farmers' prices, latest farming techniques, weather, crop cultivation, agricultural machinery, etc., which improves decision-making ability of farmers.
9) Health Care Management and Hospitals: Today almost all hospitals are computerized and take advantage of computer. Many computer applications such as patient information systems, monitoring and control systems, and diagnostic systems are used to improve healthcare. Hospital Information Systems (HIS) allow the administrative, financial and clinical aspects of a hospital to be managed more easily.
